Qualify as a British Cycling Mountain Bike Leader (level 2).

Hello all. For over a decade, the PCC Kids Club has delivered Saturday morning led rides and coaching sessions for young riders (ages 8-16) at Glentress (945am-12 noon).

Some of Scotland’s top riders developed their initial skills and found their love for the sport through Kids Club.  Qualified leaders and parental help has always been at the backbone of Kids club and we are currently on the lookout for up to 6 adults (age 18+) who are interested in volunteering at Kids Club to lead rides on a Saturday morning (at least once per month during school term time).

Please note you DON’T need to be an expert rider to qualify as a British Cycling Mountain Bike Leader (level 2). It’s helpful if you feel comfortable riding blue / red grade off road trails, are happy with (or to learn) basic trailside repairs and would enjoy leading group rides.

We are liaising with Andy Weir at Ridelines and he advised that (subject to sufficient numbers) a weekend training course can be organised for:

Saturday and Sunday 4-5 January 2025

OR

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January 2025

The one-day assessment would be in March (date TBC).

Young riders are the future lifeblood of any cycling club and the PCC Committee has kindly agreed to underwrite the cost of members undertaking this BC Level 2 course (and mandatory PVG check) if you don’t already hold valid qualifications.

If you are interested and would like to find out more, in the first instance can you please send a brief email or call Colin Hutchison at PCC Kids Club Colin.hutchison@gmail.com / 07557794981

We hope this is of interest and many thanks in advance.

Best
