Gordon Arms Posse

Gordon Arms was booked for the annual Saturday Roadies Christmas Lunch - weather forecast was 'pants', but in true Saturday morning spirit, we donned the full storm gear, ignored any grumblings and set off down the valley via Selkirk.

Nice wee detour off road at the old Peel hospital, short cutting over to Yair Bridge. Still no sign of the impending storm until about Bowhill when the wind turned onto the nose and started howling...full waterproofs on, wee light-weight chap at the back starting to struggle...

Arrived at Gordon Arms bang on schedule - doors locked to keep out the storm, but soon opened to let in the weary travellers.

Big roaring fire, a few pints of Game Bird, top nosh and the world put to rights again....some kind of armageddon going on outside, so no one really in any hurry to get home yet...

Time to go when there was a concern we may not get home in the daylight - wind abating ? No, blown sideways as we stepped outside - 'riders of the storm' and all that...

Blown up the hill over Paddys and over to Traquair - gusts in excess of 40mph, some of the the tail wind assisted accelerations totally breathtaking...Home in Peebles in about 40 minutes - should have switched on Strava - another fine Saturday morning road adventure.

Merry Christmas from the Saturday Morning riders....
